CHIDO'S HISTORY

Pancho Villa Mexican Restaurant, a beloved institution in Lennox Head, was the longest-running restaurant in town, locally owned and operated by a wonderful family for over 30 years. It stood as a cornerstone of the local dining scene. From its opening in 1989 to its bittersweet closure in 2020, Pancho Villa was a vibrant spot where locals and returning visitors alike came together to enjoy delicious food and experience the warm, welcoming spirit of Mexico.

For over three decades, Pancho Villa was synonymous with great Mexican food and a lively atmosphere. Whether it was the giant margaritas, unforgettable chili con queso, or the crispy chimichangas, it was a place where friends and families would come to relax, unwind, and enjoy good company.

A NEW BEGINNING

In 2020, the iconic Pancho Villa underwent a transformation when a new owner took the reins and rebranded the restaurant as Chido Cantina. With this fresh direction, Chido Cantina embraced a vibrant new look, a reimagined menu, and an exciting new chapter.

In August 2023, the reins were passed to us. We were thrilled to take over this iconic space, carrying the torch of its rich history while infusing it with our own vision for the future. We’ve added a touch of surf-style cantina that reflects the laid-back, beachy culture of Lennox Head.

 

The relaxed vibe, casual atmosphere, and vibrant décor embody the spirit of our coastal town, making Chido Cantina the perfect place to unwind after a day in the surf or soak in the easygoing charm of Lennox Head. We knew from the start how much Pancho Villa meant to the Lennox Head community, and we were committed to continuing its legacy in a way that would honour the past while looking ahead.

Blake & his crew were just the best; then the Margaritas & food arrived! We ate here twice with our two daughters who loved the kids choices as well during our short stay in Lennox! Unreal atmosphere supported by the best tacos we’ve ever had! Happy hour drinks just top the experience off! We’re from Wollongong & we’ll be back!

HUNGRY?

Chido Cantina is a Mexican Restaurant in Lennox Head that offers over 20 tables for groups of all sizes. The restaurant comfortably seats over 80 guests and is split in two sides: Bar side and Family side. We also have seating outside and are pet friendly outside. Bookings are highly recommended. 

Chido Cantina is open 5 nights a week, Tuesday to Saturday, from 5pm till late for dine-in and takeaway.

 

Lunch is available during school holiday periods on Fridays and Saturdays from 12pm.
